This may sound like a no-brainer, but I finally decided to put it into practice after I missed one too many ingredients or errands! I keep a magnetic writing pad on my fridge (you can get these for $1.00 at craft stores) and a pen nearby. Whenever I am near the bottom of something (a few drops of ketchup, a spoonful of sour cream, the last soda, etc.), I immediately write that item on the top of the list. Train your family members to do the same. The person who eats the last bowl of cereal should put it on the list! Once a week, go through your fridge and pantry and take stock of what’s getting low, and go ahead and put it on the list.
On the bottom half of the list, I write down the errands I need to do the following day. I add to the list as something comes to mind or comes up, and then when it’s time to go run those errands, I either rip off the bottom of the page (if I’m not also going grocery shopping), or carry the whole list with me if I am.
Simple? Yes. Effective? Yes!
